Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
1982 Documented Color Block Wool Coat
Sold Out
A very rare colour block coat from a 1982 collection by pioneering high end French designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac, known particularly for his pop art inspired designs, of which this piece is a fine example. (The 2nd picture is of the original 1982 fashion illustration.) Trimmed and lined with durable beige cotton, the outer layer is made with soft textured wool in four bright colours. The back, and outer front flap, are a wide red triangle shape, with soft blue on the sides at the back and the front of the sleeves, clover green on the back of the sleeves, and warm yellow on the inner front flap and sides of the front. Does up the front with two beige buttons on the left shoulder. The beige cotton creates a short pointed collar. The shoulders are accented by being unattached from the sleeves on the outside, the sleeves attached to the inner cotton lining. This adds to the geometric cut of the design. With two open deep pockets at the front. An ideal early 1980’s statement piece.
