Yves Saint Laurent
c.1970 Black Velvet Flower Applique Jacket
Sold Out
A hard to find Yves St. Laurent item from the early 1970’s. I believe this may be either from his then-scandalous 1971 “Libération/Quarante” spring collection, or possibly from an earlier 1970 collection. Whichever collection it’s from, the 1940’s influence on this design is evident. The puffed sleeves with button enclosure near the elbows, the choice of black cotton velvet for a women’s fitted blazer, and the intricately braided floral appliqué on the two pockets are unmistakable. This piece is fully lined with small black buttons up the front.
