Hermès
1978 Custom "Les Pivoines" by Christiane Vauzelles Scarf Dress
Sold Out
This incredibly unique piece was commissioned in the 1970s by the original owner to be custom-made by a dressmaker out of genuine Hermès silk twill scarves. The design is "Les Pivoines" by Christiane Vauzelles. The dress is very well-constructed, with a pintuck bodice and huge billowing sleeves with elastic cuffs. The dressmaker even preserved the scarves' hand-rolled edges on the interior. It slips over the wearer's head and does up at the back of the neck with a hook-and-eye.
There are some minor condition issues: the left sleeve is slightly faded and has a couple of light brown marks on the back. There are also a couple of pulls near the "Les Pivoines" signature on the back of the skirt, and a small grey dot on the back. Please zoom in on the photos. The dress remains very wearable, and we have adjusted the price to reflect the imperfections. It has been professionally cleaned, and is ready to wear.
