2009-10 Cruise "Merchant of Venice" Sailor Top & Skirt Set

This Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld nautical top and skirt set is from the 2009-10 Cruise collection "Merchant of Venice", which was inspired by Luchino Visconti's controversial 1971 film "Death in Venice". It was made in Italy of a white 82% cotton/18% nylon knit blend with black striped trim , and featured on that season's runway. Enamel metal "CC" charms are sewn near the front left side of the top and skirt's hemlines.
The short-sleeve pullover top has a ribbed waistband and a sailor collar with a built-in black silk ribbon tie at the neck. The high-waisted long skirt is pleated, with a ribbed waistband. It's lined in two layers of unstarched pleated polyester tulle, giving it volume and great movement.
The set presents beautifully but has a few flaws to note:
- The enamel charms are too heavy for the knit and have stressed the fabric around it. There are also a couple of very small breaks in the knit around each charm.
- There are a few small light orange spot on the skirt, including one on the waistband, and a very light orange spot on the top.
- There is minor yellowing throughout the top, though it is very discreet and and only noticeable under close inspection.
We have priced it accordingly, and included photos documenting any condition issues. It has been professionally dry-cleaned and is ready to wear.
